Let’s Celebrate Harmony Week!
The College is holding a traditional cultural dress day on Friday 21 March 2025 to celebrate Harmony Week. Students are encouraged to wear cultural dress, or the colour orange (the colour of Harmony Week) on the day. Classes will continue as usual.
What is Harmony Week?
It is a week to celebrate multiculturalism in Australia. Australia is one of the most multicultural countries in the world. Harmony Week is about bringing together Australians, fostering inclusiveness, respect and belonging.
Traditional Cultural Dress Day
Clothing is a way we can celebrate our diverse community. For Harmony Week, celebrating cultural diversity, students are encouraged to come to school in traditional costumes on
Friday 21 March 2025 (eg. Dashiki’s, Sari, Agbada). Students may also wear a traditional cultural top with College shorts or skirts, or an orange shirt with College shorts or skirts.
Otherwise, students must be in College uniform.
While this day will be a celebration of our cultural diversity, it will also be a normal college day for classes. Please remember your Physical Education uniform and sneakers if you have Phys Ed or Dance on this day.
Our high College standards for uniform and behaviour will continue to apply. As such, cultural items and clothing must be appropriate for the school environment, including no low-cut items nor clothing with inappropriate slogans or logos.
Orange? Why?
Traditionally orange is chosen as it signifies social communication and meaningful conversation, relating to freedom of ideas and mutual respect. Staff and students may wear orange on Friday 21 March to show their support for cultural inclusion in Australia.
