Year 5 and 6 Masterclass
John Forrest Secondary College has students attending from up to 40 different primary schools and Masterclasses have been an innovative way of transitioning students into the College. Masterclasses highlight the skills of our exceptional teachers and provide students with an insight into critical thinking and problem solving skills required at high school. Finally with Covid restrictions lightening in school Term 3 has been a hive of activity for incoming students from our local primary schools. This term year 5 and 6 students participated in one or more of our series of John Forrest Masterclasses. STEM in Science Week, HASS in HASS week and English in Book week. HASS Masterclass investigated "Around the World", Science week saw over 50 students participate in the STEM Masterclass as they tested their investigatory and problem solving skills in a series of scientific and engineering challenges. During English Masterclass students interrogated picture books; evaluating the importance of illustrations in telling a story and constructing their own picture book designed to share with younger siblings or school students.
