Transport

Bicycles

Bicycle racks are provided on campus. Students must abide by the road rules and wear a helmet.

No responsibility is taken for lost/stolen bicycles. Students should ensure their bikes are secured with sturdy locks.

Public Transport

John Forrest Secondary College is well serviced by public transport, with a large number of Transperth bus routes stopping directly at the school or at the nearby Morley bus station.

To plan your journey to our College please visit the Transperth website for detailed maps and timetables.

SmartRider Cards

Students require a Student SmartRider card to access concession travel on Transperth services.

In order to issue cards, the PTA requires that parents/carers give their permission for schools to provide student details to the PTA for the purposes of registering the student concession travel and to enable the SmartRider card to be produced.

College Parking / Student Drop Off / Pick Up

Parents are encouraged to make use of alternative drop-off and pick up areas, a number of which are indicated on College maps.  Under no circumstances use the City of Bayswater's car parks.  The City of Bayswater Ranger may undertake school parking patrols and issue infringements to those parents who are parking unlawfully. There is also visitor and disable bays available.

If it is absolutely necessary to pick up students from inside the College grounds, then we would ask you please:

  • Not to stop or pick up students in the through traffic lane.
  • No parking or driving through the staff car park.
  • No parking or driving through the car park of the City of Bayswater.
  • Observe the signage regarding no parking and no standing areas (buses require the turning space on return from excursion).
  • Not to leave your vehicle unattended.

These arrangements are for the safety of our students and your children and to avoid damage to parent and staff vehicles. Please see College maps for more details.

The City of Bayswater have a School Parking Brochure which is available here.

Cars

Students who are licensed drivers are permitted to drive their own cars or motorcycles to school. Students and their parents/carers need to sign and agree to the College's Vehicle Contract (obtainable from the front office).

Student cars or motorcycles should be parked in the designated parking areas by 8.30 am. Unless special permission is granted, the vehicles should remain unused during the school day.

Students must register their vehicles at the front office. Students are not permitted to travel to and from sport or other school excursions in their own vehicles.

The speed limit within the College grounds is 8km/hr.
