Netball Specialist Program

specialist-program-250px.png

Our Specialist Netball Program is a Department of Education Approved Specialist Program.

The program gives students in Years 7 to 10 the chance to pursue their passion for netball with the assistance of professional, accredited coaches and a program of intra-state and inter-state tournaments.

Students study two netball units a year (four hours per week), receive professional coaching and the opportunity to be involved in regular competitions.

The program is coordinated by Diane Papas and Hayley McKee, Specialist Netball Teachers and visiting Professional Coaches.

The program covers the development of netball skills and fitness training and testing. The opportunity exists for senior school students to combine their WACE studies with netball studies through university and Training WA (TAFE) bound courses.

The program has enjoyed significant success over the years:

  • Consistently place in top three - WA State School Final Day
  • Regularly Regional (NERPEA) Carnival winners
  • Consistently place in top four in minor carnivals
  • Consistently place in last sixteen in State High School Cup.
  • Consistently reach High School Cup Elimination Finals Day

This prestigious program is supported by patron, Jessica Anstiss - current West Coast Fever netball player.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We are proud to offer students the opportunity to pursue their individual interests and strengths through participation in one of our four Specialist Programs.  The Specialist Programs are timetabled as electives.  Queries about the impact of this on student course selection may be discussed with the Deputy Principal.  Students enrolled in the Netball Specialist Program have many exciting opportunities to develop strong netball, teamwork and leadership skills.  The Netball Program provides exertion and challenge, treatment of the subject in depth and the pursuit of excellence.  With those opportunities comes the responsibility to commit to the program and the team.  Netball commitments are available here.

You can find more information about the program here or download a Specialist Sport application form here.  You will also need to complete an general enrolment application for the College, which is available here.  If you have any other queries please phone (08) 9473 4035 or email JohnForrest.SC.SpecialistPrograms@education.wa.edu.au

Applications for Year 7 2024 Specialist Netball Program close Friday 28 April 2023.

Applications received after this date will be accepted, however, placement in the program will depend on enrolment numbers.

Year 7 offers of placement will be posted by the end of June.
