Enrichment Program

We believe that all students can learn and succeed and should have every opportunity to reach their potential.

Literacy and Numeracy Support Program

The Enrichment Program has been in operation at John Forrest Secondary College since 1997 and has been very successful in assisting students with literacy difficulties.

The program is made available to students in the College local intake area. In the first two years of high school students remain together as a group for Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities and Social Science.

They have one teacher and an Education Assistant and the class numbers are kept low. The students work through much of the mainstream curriculum but with a focus on building literacy and numeracy skills.

Placement in the Enrichment Program is based on NAPLAN results, school based testing and teacher recommendations. Enrichment Program students are moved into mainstream classes once they have demonstrated that they are capable of managing in a mainstream environment.
