Year 8 Cricket Camp 2021

Week 8 this term saw the last of the Cricket Specialist Program Camps for the year. The Year 8 students travelled to the South West, playing cricket matches against teams from both Perth and Bunbury.

During the evenings students participated in a variety of activities, including catching up with the Specialist Tennis Students for dinner and a walk along the Busselton Jetty, Night Tennis at Busselton Tennis Club and a movie session at the Cinema. Students skills were also challenged when they faced constructing tents in the dark.

Thank you to the staff who organised and ran the camp, making it an enjoyable week for all.

Please find below the Captains Reports for each day's games.

Day 1 – JFSC v Butler College
On the first day, we versed Butler. Garry opened the bowling and got us off to a fantastic start with a wicket first ball of the game. Sachit bowled good line and length outside off. Then Lincoln came on and got 2 wickets. Noah came on last and got 2 wickets. Butler finished on 9/131. Sebb and Liam B opened the batting but Liam B got bowled in the first over. Luke and Sebb scored some runs until Luke got out LBW. Ashton and Lincoln got the last 40 runs, so we ended up winning by 3 wickets.
 - Sebb Barrett (Captain – Day 1)

Day 2 – JFSC v Bunbury Cathedral Grammar
We won the toss and chose to bat first.
We started off slow with Hunter and Garry opening the batting but slowly picked up pace. Once Garry was out for 20, Sebb Barrett came in. He scored a good 26 off 40. Next came Liam Bason. Hunter continued to make 57 off 100 with six 4's and one 6, then got caught at mid-on. Liam Bason continued to make 50 off 57 with four 6's and five 4's. We ended up with a total of 190. Liam Kay and Lincoln opened the bowling with a good first spell and a wicket in the 4th over. Their third batter came in and was looking to score a good amount of runs. He retired not out on 100 after just 74 balls. With fifteen 4's and three 6's he was the top scorer of the match. In at number 7, Angus Scott (who is normally in our team) came out and made 60 of 52 with six 4's and one 6.
- Hunter Wills (Captain – Day 2)

Day 3 – JFSC v Dalyellup College
On the third day we versed Dalyellup. Abby Howes and Sebb Barret combined to open the bowling. Sebb Barret took the first couple wickets leaving our other bowlers without any pressure. Resulting in Liam Bason and Luke Del Borrello having a combined 5 wickets in the inning. completing the innings with them making 105.
We ended up batting well and chased the runs comfortably. Ending the game in a good win. With Liam top scoring, with 37.
We won by 4 wickets.
- Luke Del Borrello (Captain – Day 3)

Day 4 – JFSC v Dalyellup College
On the last day, we versed Dalyellup. We batted first and Ashton and Abby opened the batting. Ashton stayed in for a while, scoring 33. We ended up getting 108. We bowled first and Noah got hit around a bit. Garry came on next and bowled similar to Noah. Then Lincoln came on and got a wicket, from then on we were looking pretty well. They still needed less than one a ball. Ashton and Liam K bowled 2 maidens and kept them down to 83. So we won by 25 runs.
