Dance in 2023
As always, the importance of exposure to the dance industry, its practitioners and artists is vital to our subject, creating rich and diverse programs and lessons leading to transformative opportunities for our students.
2023 has seen the return of the fabulous Denzel Mahusay as well as WAAPA and LINK graduate Madi Bayliss who conducted Jazz Industry workshops for the Certificate II Dance course. We have had several JFSC students step up and share their knowledge and skills in Dance with their peers. Sibling superstars, Luke and Mia Taylor, along with Kate and Emily Smith, newcomer Tayla Otley, alongside Reiane Dulay and Year 11 student, Gracie McNeil, who is showing impressive teaching skills, have all given their time and energy to Dance. Semester 2 saw guest teachers from WAAPA come in and observe and then complete their teaching practicals with our Year 8 and Year 9 Dance classes.
We were lucky to have the skills, energy and jazzy vibes from Ruby Hart and Matthew Lawler along with the dynamic duo of Bec Fleming and Hunter Ewen. Ana Dotlic, a graduate of JFSC regularly offers generous support for our competitions and Dance Showcase events, and this year has assisted with our Junior classes for the last part of Term 3.
