Water in Aboriginal Culture incursion
On Thursday 2 June 2023, all Year 7 students were treated to a workshop which looked at Aboriginal peoples' 60,000 year old water management and conservation practices.
Students were taken through a sensory journey through Noongar boodja (Noongar country) to broaden their understanding of Aboriginal seasons, water sources and the use of kangaroo skin.
Through storytelling and message sticks students communicated their connection to water and expressed their hopes for the future.
Hopefully the workshop enhanced students' understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture.
Thanks to Water Corporation and Aboriginal Education Officer Harley Johnston for passing on this knowledge.
