2026 Arts Week
|
Arts week is one of our favourite weeks as it gives our students a way to show their talents and skills with concerts, performances, and the showcase.
We kicked off the week with a fantastic performance by our Year 12 Certificate Band in front of the café. The band students have honed their musical skills and talents at JFSC, and the performance was very popular with both students and staff.
The band Safety made up of Year 10 students, rocked the crowd at lunchtime with some Green Day classics and even tried out a few new tunes on the audience on the Tuesday.
On the Wednesday, our Performing Arts students took to the stage to present Looks Like Teen Spirit, a fantastic showcase of their talent and dedication. The performance highlighted their skills in music, dance, and drama, providing students with the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, confidence, and hard work to their family and school community.
On Thursday Senior Swing Band performed a lunch time concert conducted by Mr Thompson. The band performed some pieces from the recent 'Dance' themed mid-year concert, namely Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Earth, Wind and Fire Dance Mix and Let's Face the Music and Dance. The band played excellently with energy and accuracy, with a special mention going to Arlo Hartmann's beautifully crafted guitar solo in the first piece, and Devante's rock-solid groove in the final piece.
Following on from the swing band was a newly formed ensemble in 2026, the Junior Contemporary Band, also directed by Mr Thompson performed All Star by Smash mouth and a high-octane version of Blink 182's classic rock anthem, All the Small Things.
On the last day of Arts Week, 50 of our students ventured to the Convention Centre to hear the music of Joe Hisaichi performed by The West Australian Symphony Orchestra. The Year 10s have studied film music and minimalism and were reminded of the techniques during the informative presentation from the compares. Our students were familiar with the stunning music from Studio Ghibli and enjoyed every moment of the excursion.
A lot of work has happened behind the scenes, thank you to the dedicated teachers, students, parents, and community that assist with arts week this year! |
