Languages Week 2026
We kicked off JFSC Languages Week with the Languages and HPE teams co-hosting the second annual staff vs students' indoor soccer match, known as the Pietro Capitani Cup. The match showcased impressive skill, teamwork, and school spirit from both teams. Congratulations to the students, who secured the win and proudly claimed this year's trophy!
Throughout the week, the Wandjoo café introduced a special menu featuring a variety of international foods for students and staff to enjoy. Popular items included arancini, onigiri, Italian pizza, and tiramisu, among many others. A special thank you to our P&C for supporting this exciting and delicious menu.
Our lunchtime Japanese cultural booths were a huge success on the Wednesday as students enjoyed learning how to make their own onigiri, creating beautiful Japanese calligraphy, and testing their skills with Kendama. It was wonderful to see so many students actively engaging with Japanese culture while learning new skills and having fun with their peers.
On other days, students gathered in the library during lunchtime to collaborate on building models of the Trevi Fountain and Meiji Castle. It was fantastic to see such strong teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm on display.
As languages week came to an end, students in every form class took part in an origami crane competition. Origami cranes are symbols of peace, hope, and longevity. Armed with beautifully coloured Japanese origami paper, students enthusiastically created as many cranes as possible. The competition highlighted both creativity and teamwork, and it was inspiring to see so much participation across the school.
A big thank you to our languages teachers for organising such an engaging and enjoyable languages week. The week provided students with valuable opportunities to experience different cultures, learn new skills, and celebrate the diversity of our school community.
