Trade Training Centre

John Forrest Secondary College has a dedicated Trade Training Centre for students pursuing a career in the plumbing and gasfitting, painting and decorating and building and construction trades.

The Centre was built to be an environmentally friendly facility and has natural air flow ventilation in all training cubicles with natural sky lighting. Water is recycled from the roof through an enviro wash for removing paint pigments.

Students come from 22 schools across the metropolitan area to learn essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills and receive workplace experience for entry into the plumbing and gasfitting, painting and decorating and building and construction trades.

Pre-apprenticeship and Certificate I/II pathways are offered for students pursuing a career in the following areas:

  • 525824WA Certificate II in Building and Construction (Pathway – Trades)
  • 52700WA Certificate II in Plumbing

Students enjoy trade facilities and amenities of professional standards and are able to develop valuable technical expertise and take part in challenging projects.

The Centre houses:

  • Impressive industrially equipped workshops.
  • Two training classrooms which overlook the specialised training areas for painting and decorating and plumbing and gasfitting

Our Trade pathway leads to a nationally recognised qualification endorsed by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority.

The program has won the following awards:

  • State
  • National
  • Best Practice
  • NAB Schools First Award
