WORLDSKILLS VETiS COMPETITION

The WorldSkills Australia Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) program is a series of work-simulated projects based on industry standard frameworks which are designed and administered by practising teachers and industry professionals. VETiS competitions operate on the same two year cycle and are open to students who are enrolled in the first year of a VET course in secondary schools.

Angela Dela Cruz, Year 11 student, represented John Forrest Secondary College at the competition, utilising the skills and knowledge she gained from attending North Metropolitan TAFE in Joondalup where she is completing her Certificate II in Kitchen Operations through the VETiS Profile Program.

Angela received the highest scores in the following categories: Work Station Hygiene, Food Storage and Wastage; Food Preparation Skills – Technique and Process; Appropriate Cookery Skills and Methods; Presentation and Tasting of Entrée Dish; and Presentation and Tasting of Main Dish. Angela's outstanding performance and hard work secured her the Silver Medal for the competition.

John Forrest Secondary College and the Careers and Vocational Education Team would like to extend congratulations to Angela on this fantastic achievement!
