YR 10 SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING EXCURSION
On Tuesday 10 April fifty-five of our Year 10 Science and STEM students travelled to Claremont Showgrounds to participate in the 2018 Science and Engineering Challenge. The event, which is presented by the University of Newcastle and run in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Midland encourages students to consider a career in Science or Engineering, and to study the enabling sciences in upper school.
Students worked in groups and were awarded points for each activity and the school with the most cumulative points at the end of the day was declared the winner. This was the second year we had entered the event and continued the success in the bridge building competition that we had last year. Other challenges included making a bionic hand, solving electrical network problems and designing a safe building structure for an earthquake prone area.
