The 2019 Arts Showcase
On a wet and windy fourth of July students from Years 7 to 12 entertained audiences with the biennial JFSC Arts Showcase.
Audiences were taken on a journey through different genres from each learning area within the Arts. As audiences entered the venue they were greeted with the Interactive Courtesy and Respect Tree to which they took up the opportunity to contribute their own messages about courtesy and respect as leaves upon the tree. A display of photography was also available for audiences to peruse. A variety of Dance styles were performed including Hip-Hop by the Certificate II in Dance and Year 10 students, a Jazz Dance by the Certificate II in Dance students and a Contemporary Dance piece by the Year 9 students. The Year 7 and 9 Music students performed pieces as a choir and the Saxophone Quartet played "A Whole New World" from Aladdin. Short films by the media students were shown and members from the JFSC Drama Club performed the play "how to succeed in High School without really trying".
All performers showed great dedication and passion for their chosen art. Many thanks to teachers and students who volunteered their time on the night operating the front-of-house and back stage requirements. Special thanks to Andre Pugosa (2016 JFSC Graduate) for jumping in to assist the Saxophone Quartet at short notice, Mia Cook and Nan-Dewi Aye for hosting proceedings, Ella Rashligh and Joshua Bropho for creating the Courtesy and Respect Tree, Tallinn Kroeger, Mark Blay and Christian Ho for operating the Light and Sound desk and Mehakpreet Brar, Mikala Harris who co-photographed the event.
