2019 Gold Coast Netball Tour
A talented squad of Year 9 - 12 JFSC Netball program students have just returned from the Gold Coast, Queensland having competed in the 2019 WorldSport Netball Carnival.
This event is an outstanding opportunity to represent the College and the State. The rivalry was intense to say the least, especially between WA schools.
The senior team started the competition off strongly and were placed in a high division because of this performance. The 16U team continued to improve throughout the competition and finished runners up in their division. An achievement they should be very proud of.
Lucy Mitic was awarded the 'Barbarian' award for the senior team for demonstrating positive leadership on and off the court as well as consistently performing at a high level on the court. Lorne Ballantyne was also awarded the 'Barbarian' award for the 16U division. Lorne demonstrated excellent teamwork and worked very hard over the duration of the competition. Both ladies where recognised for these awards at the closing ceremony of the netball carnival.
The 2019 tour also contained a first for JFSC with a student attending in an official capacity. Year 12 student Brooke Power, who is a "C" Badged Umpire with Noranda Netball Association, umpired across the 14U and 16U Divisions over the four days of competition.
Other highlights of the trip include a day at Movie World, dinner and show at the Australian Outback Spectacular and a morning with all the netball and rugby participants competing in beach games. The ladies had an awesome week, played strong netball and represented the school fantastically!
