Bunbury Big Bash 2019
At the end of March, the Year 10 Cricketers made the annual pilgrimage to Bunbury to take part in the Bunbury Big Bash for 2019. This year six schools from across the south of WA competed to take out the title. It was a tough competition with both wins and losses for the JFSC Team. In the end JFSC finished third – a good result overall.
Game 1: JFSC v Tranby College
A tough fought battle with JFSC going down 9/131 off 20 overs to Tranby College's 3/132 off 18.5 overs. Batting highlights included Elijah Ward-Armstrong 33 off 16, Alex Baxter 44 off 42, Alex Hardiman 21 off 25 and Gustav McKeon 23 off 19.
Game 2: JFSC v Baldivis Secondary College
JFSC made a comeback to win 94 runs off 9.4 overs to Baldivis Secondary College's 93 off 20 overs earning JFSC a bonus point. Wickets to Gustav McKeon 1, Callum Westwood 3, and Reid Berry 2 (Plus run outs). Callum Westwood batted the overs out with a top score of 67 off 42 balls.
Game 3: JFSC v Dalyellup College
JFSC started day 2 well with 8/147 to 7/102 a win over Dalyellup College. An opening partnership got JFSC off to a good start with Will Baxter 23 and Liam Bryant 36 followed by Elijah Ward-Armstrong 57 not out. Alex Hardiman took 2 wickets in his 4 overs and only going for 14 runs helping to secure victory.
Game 4: JFSC v Bunbury Catholic College
After winning the toss JFSC elected to bat and set a score of 7/167 with key performances from Gustav McKeon 61 off 32, Will Baxter 33 off 32 and Ryan Szewczuk 29 off 25. Bunbury failed in their chase making only 5/91 off 20 overs. Alex Baxter took 2 wickets off 4 overs.
Game 5: JFSC v Kent Street Senior High School
With light fading fast for the final game of the day JFSC lost a close game 116 all out against Kent Street Senior High School 125/4. Good batting performances from Callum Westwood 40 off 44 and Elijah Ward-Armstrong 26 off 20. Wickets to Alex Hardiman 2 as well as Liam Bryant and Gustav McKeon 1 each.
Game 6 - Final: JFSC v Bunbury Catholic College
After two full days of competition JFSC competed in the third verse forth match against Bunbury Catholic College (BCC).
BCC won the toss and elected to bat making 3/103 with wickets to Noah Gough, Elijah Ward-Armstrong, and Katie Leonard.
JFSC chased and beat this score with 6/105 off 19 overs. Batting standouts included Liam Bryant 29 not out, Katie Leonard 14 not out, Elijah Ward-Armstrong 23, and Alex Hardiman 19.
