Harmony Week 2019
During Term 1 the College came together to celebrate Harmony Day 2019. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the first Harmony Day celebration in Australia and JFSC recognised and celebrated its diverse and multicultural community.
The Librarians commenced proceedings with the creation of a Harmony Day Tree in the Library. Students designed birds to be placed in the tree. Approximately 70 students designed and submitted birds allowing the Harmony Day tree display to show the uniqueness and beauty of the College Community. Thuvaragga Peter (Year 7) was awarded First Prize for her design with Nia Abdul Hanif (Year 7) and Anastajia Jakotic (Year 8) awarded runners-up; all receiving Dymocks Gift Vouchers for their creative bird designs.
The Prefects hosted various activities throughout week 10 during both form classes and lunchtimes. These culminated in the Harmony Week Food Festival on the last day of Term, where Prefects sold food from different global cuisines as well as craft items. In the end the JFSC Prefects raised in excess of $400 from the various stalls, all of which will be donated to the Cambodian Community when the JFSC Students visit during December 2019.
A very big thank you to the Canteen Staff for assisting and accommodating the food stalls, the various staff who contributed during the week, and our very generous Prefects and Families who contributed both food and time.
