Students get a taste for Languages
During Week 8 Year 9 and 10 Italian and Japanese Language students immersed themselves in a selection of the fantastic multicultural aspects Perth has to offer.
On Wednesday 4 December Year 9 Italian students travelled to Laguna Veneto Bocce Club in Dianella. After being welcomed by the club's Vice-President, students delved into the Italian language and culture. Professional and World Champion Bocce players taught students the rules of Bocce then allowed students to participate in the game. This was followed by a delicious lunch which included antipasto, penne al ragù and gelato. The afternoon was spent playing Italian card games such as Scopa and interacting with the Italian members of the club, listening to them talking in Italian about their origins and their arrival to Australia many years ago. Students immersed themselves in the Italian culture and the club community and had an enjoyable time.
On Thursday 5 December Year 9 and 10 Japanese students travelled to the Perth CBD to get a taste for everything Japanese. The group started at Taka's Kitchen where students got to order and eat a traditional Japanese dish. From here they walked to the Perth Culture Centre for some free time developing their interpersonal skills while sipping on cold bubble tea. They finished the day by testing their skills at pool and Japanese made video games.
Both days were a fantastic chance for students to build on their language skills gained in the classroom and were enjoyable days for all involved.
