SSWA Netball Champion Schools – Elimination Finals
Following the North and South Carnivals in May and Interzone Round in June, two JFSC Netball teams progressed to the third round of the SSWA Netball Champions Schools Competition – the Elimination Final. This year, for only the second time, JFSC were invited to have a Senior Boys team compete on this day too. All teams went into their respective games at Fremantle Netball Association with great energy and determination.
The Year 8 Team 1 had an excellent day! The team performed at a very high level, working together extremely well. They only had one loss during the round robin component of the elimination day ensuring they progressed through to the cross over finals. Here they were undefeated which will see them compete in the High School Cup grand final day at the State Netball Centre. This is an excellent achievement and the girls should be very proud of their efforts to make it to the top four teams in the state for all of year 7 and 8.
The Year 9 Team 1 gained a wild card entry into the middle (9/10) division and fought hard all day. Unfortunately, they were unable to progress through to the play offs. There were some great performances from Kalinda P who work tirelessly setting up and creating plays for her team in attack. Lisa P ran hard in centre in both attack and defence while our defence end turned over the ball through the teamwork of Bella T and Jessica F. These girls will be back next year in the same division and are looking forward to making it further through the elimination play offs.
The Senior Boys Team played well throughout the day improving their performance game by game. The score difference in every game was of the narrowest of margins always being within 2 - 3 goals. Unfortunately, our unforced errors cost us a win each game. Despite this the team enjoyed the challenge and Year 11 students who played are already planning for next year and welcome those who are interested in trying out for the 2020 Boys Team.
