Dance Spectacle Entertains Senior Students
The Certificate II Dance students spent the evening of Friday 17 May watching Co3 Australia’s production of The Line at the State Theatre Centre.
The Line was a dance-theatre production based around the boundary line that demarcated a prohibited area in central Perth for Aboriginal people not in employment between 1927 and 1954.
Brought to life by Raewyn Hill in collaboration with Mark Howett, the show incorporated strong physical theatre elements which assisted in the storytelling of this dark moment in Western Australia’s history. The three featured dancers showed great stamina, performing onstage for a full 50 minutes without intermission or breaks offstage.
Eden Mulholland and James Crabb accompanied the performance with live music performed from both the orchestral pit and on stage.
It was a highly moving performance which showed all students a different style of performance they could utilise in their own studies and performances.
