Students take to the air with STEM
Following the Robotics session with Year 9 students in early July, Firetech visited the College again on Friday 13 September, this time treating select students from Years 7, 8 and 9 to a day with drones.
With automation such as autonomous trucks and trains becoming part of everyday life, programming is becoming an important skill for students to have. During these sessions students were able to program drones so they could accomplish different flight plans. This also allowed students to better understand how automation occurs and how drone technology can be used for a wide range of industries, such as media, agriculture and mining. Students found these sessions engaging and relevant in linking theory to real world activities.
Thank you to Firetech for once again bringing this amazing technology to our school for our students to experience.
