End of Term Cricket Results – Term 1 2019
The JFSC Cricket Students continued their strong start to 2019 with wins for the Lower School Teams. Results below:
1st XI Cricket – Kim Hughes Shield
Semi Final: JFSC v Kent Street Senior High School
On a hot and muggy day, the 1st XI Team went into the semi-final hoping to progress to the finals and defend their title. Sadly, this was not to be with Kent Street Senior High School (KSSHS) batting first and setting 7/195 for JFSC to chase. Wicket takers includes Jack Coles (2) and one wicket each to Jackson Newman, Matthew Sadler, Elijah Ward-Armstrong, Kieran Abrams & Gustav McKeon. Try as they might in the heat of the afternoon JFSC managed only 72 all out with a notable batting performance from Elijah Ward-Armstrong (23).
Year 10 Cricket
Bunbury Big Bash.
At the end of March, the Year 10 Cricketers made the annual pilgrimage to Bunbury to take part in the Bunbury Big Bash for 2019. This year six schools from across the south of WA competed to take out the title. It was a tough competition with both wins and losses for the JFSC Team. Game Three: JFSC v Kennedy Baptist College
On a dewy but fine calm day, the Year 10 Cricketers wrapped up Term 1 with a win against Kennedy Baptist College (KBC). With KBC electing to field first, JFSC went in to bat making all out for 185, with star performance by Elijah Ward-Armstrong (60). Try as they might KBC failed in their chase only making 6/160, with top wickets to Chad Vulich (2).
Year 9 Cricket
Game Three: JFSC v Guildford Grammar School
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, JFSC stumbled at the start with the first wicket partnership ending at 1/14. The second partnership of Trent Goruppi-Hughes (23) and George Edwards (20) was the most successful, with Oscar Wasley top scoring for the match with 30 and JFSC finishing with 5/98. Guildford Grammar School successfully chased this score making 4/99 in 12 overs with wickets by Aiden Nduracha (1), Sachin Suresh (1) and Kush Bhatt (2).
Year 8 Cricket
Game Three: JFSC v Guildford Grammar School
JFSC hosted Guildford Grammar School (GGS) with GGS winning the toss and batting first. With a first ball wicket to Cooper Ilich-King followed by wickets to Ishmett Pannu (4) Angus Bloxham (2), Amarn Dhillon (2) and Brandon Cappeau (1), GGS were all out for only 77. JFSC successfully chased this score, making 78 with 10 overs to spare. JFSC's top batting performance was Cooper Ilich-King who made 32.
Game Four: JFSC v Kennedy Baptist College
After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, JFSC were faced with the daunting task of chasing Kennedy Baptist College's 8/172, though the task was improved through a good bowling performance by Marco Daniele who got 3 wickets (2 of which he got in a row). Sadly, it was not JFSC day, only making 10/143, with Brandon Cappeau top scoring with 60 runs off 45 balls.
Year 7 Cricket
Game Three: JFSC v Guildford Grammar School
Game three for Term 1 saw a comfortable win for the Year 7s. Guildford Grammar School went into bat first with a score of 41 all out, wickets to Toby Hebbard (3), Ines McKeon (2), Harrison Waghorn (2) and Joey Dimanaleo (1), plus a spectacular catch from Horshan Suresh. JFSC comfortably beat this score making 5/110 with standout performances from Oliver Brandes De Roos (20) and Blake Szewczuk (17) – both retired (not out).
Game Four: JFSC v Kennedy Baptist College
On a grey and cloudy day, the JFSC Year 7s lost the toss and went into bowl against Kennedy Baptist College who set a score of 9/91 to chase with four wickets by Denver Scott. Sadly, JFSC were 20 runs short in their chase - all out for 71. Batting highlights included a great defensive performance by Om Kadam (12) and some late hitting from Ines McKeon (16 not out).
