Cricket Results – Term 4 2019

JFSC Cricket students have made a strong start to the 2019-2020 Cricket season with wins in the Kim Hughes Shield and games against Belridge Secondary College, Kent Street Senior High School, Kennedy Baptist College and Christ Church Grammar School for the Year 7 to 10 students. Results below:

1st XI Cricket – Kim Hughes Shield

The 1st XI have made a good start in the Kim Hughes Shield after two wins to kick off the 2019-2020 competition.

JFSC v Newman College

With a home ground advantage JFSC went in to bat first against Newman College, making 6/237 off 40 overs with good batting performances by Jake Egan (62), Elijah Ward-Armstrong (76), William Baxter (38) and Gus McKeon (35). Our cricketers kept Newman College's scores low (7/165 off 40 overs) with wickets/runs taken by Elijah Ward-Armstrong (3/17), Alexander Baxter (1/11), Ethan Sherwood (1/12) and Kieran Abrams (2/32).

JFSC v Kent Street Senior High School (KSSHS)

Travelling to Kent St SHS for round two, JFSC won the toss and elected to bat. Some amazing batting performances were exhibited with a stellar partnership between Jake Egan (179) and Kieran Abrams (67), leading JFSC to 9/314 off 50 overs. Try as they might KSSHS couldn't keep up, making 144 off 36.3 overs. Wickets/runs taken by Elijah Ward-Armstrong (4/21), Alexander Hardiman (3/13), Jake Egan (1/24), Jayden Cappeau (1/19) and Alexander Baxter (1/19).

Year 10 Cricket

JFSC v Gregory Terrace (GT)

JFSC hosted Brisbane School Gregory Terrace in December. GT went into bat first making 9/172 with wickets to Liam Bryant (2/16) and Harry Pannu (2/14). JFSC just fell short in their chase getting 9/161 with good performances from Callum Westwood (62) and Harry Pannu (39).

Year 9 Cricket

JFSC v Belridge Secondary College (BSC)

First game of the term for the Year 9s was against BSC, who batted first making 140. JFSC chased making 80 with good batting performances Ryan Skett (35) and Taj Jones (15).

JFSC v Kent Street Senior High School (KSSHS)

KSSHS went into bat first making 213 with wickets to Cooper Hebbard (2) and Taj Jones (3). JFSC chased but only made 143, with good performances from Taj Jones (35) and Ryan Skett (30).

JFSC v Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS)

The 9s played CCGS at the CCGS Playing Fields. CCGS batted first making 155 with wickets to Taj Jones (3) and Oscar Wasley (3). JFSC chased and beat CCGS score by one wicket, with good performances by Jack Buckingham (51 not out), Kush Bhatt (23) and Sachin Suresh (19).

JFSC v Kennedy Baptist College (KBC)

On a very hot day KBC went into bat first making 185 with wickets by George Edwards (3) and Jack Buckingham (2). JFSC chased in the heat of the afternoon but fell 11 runs short, with good batting performances by Sachin Suresh (60) Jack Buckingham (25 not out), Trent Goruppi-Hughes (24) and Taj Jones (23).

Year 8 Cricket

JFSC v Belridge Secondary College (BSC)

JFSC batted first making 167 with good performances by Kade Barret (54) and Angus Bloxham (47). BSC chased and matched this making 198, with wickets by Zach Howes (1) and Sajed Siraj (1).

JFSC v Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS)

Playing at CCGS's playing fields, JFSC went into bat first making 4/166 with good performances from Ishmeet Pannu (75 not out), Cooper Ilich-King (37) and Brandon Cappeau (15). Due to technical difficulties the score for CCGS was mislaid.

Year 7 Cricket

JFSC v Belridge Secondary College (BSC)

Two games were played at JFSC to kick off Term 4 for the Year 7s.

Game 1 was a close fought battle with JFSC batting first making 109 with good performances from Mohith Kesavan (25) and Horshan Suresh (36). BSC just beat this score making 112, with wickets to Vraj Patel (1), Rudra Gaba (1) and Jack Rolfe (3)

Game 2 saw BSC batting first, making 130 with wickets to Xavier Howse (3), Andrew Taman (2) and Mitchell White (2). JFSC Chased making 153 with good performances from Ines McKeon (61), Veronica Keen (19 not out), Andrew Taman (15) and Joey Dimanalao (12 not out).

JFSC v Kent Street Senior High School (KSSHS)

The game against KSSHS saw JFSC batting first making 165, with good performances from Oliver Brandes De Roos (41) and Mitchell White (24). KSSHS chased and matched JFSCs score with wickets taken by Ines McKeon and Xavier Howse.

JFSC v Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS)

Game one was held at CCGS playing fields where JFSC went into bat first making 60, with good performances by Oliver Brandes De Roos and Horshan Suresh. CCGS chased and made 170, with wickets to Veronica Keen, Zac Howes and Jack Rolfe.

Game two was held at JFSC where CCGS batted first making 69 runs. Wickets to Rudra Gaba (3) and Blake Szewczuk (2). JFSC chased and beat this score making 108, with key runs by Mohith Kesavan (41), Blake Szewczuk (30), Kane Rawlins (11) and Rudra Gaba (9).

JFSC v Kennedy Baptist College (KBC)

On an extremely hot day KBC and JFSC play a game of quarters, where each team batted 16 overs both before and after lunch. KBC batted first making 4/170 with wickets to Veronica Keen (1/5) and Xavier Howse (1/6). In a thrilling run chase JFSC made 10/166 with good performances to Horshan Suresh (25), Veronica Keen (19) and Ines McKeon made a thrilling 45 from 23 balls to nearly steal the game.
