Year 6 Orientation Day 2019
On Monday 2 December the College hosted approximately 200 Year 6 students for Orientation Day. The day allowed students to have a taste of what the next six years of schooling have in store for them. These included:
- Creating a Pencil holder in Woodwork
- Dot painting in Visual Arts
- Banana Muffin Demonstration in Home Economics
- Hiragana practise and games in Japanese
- Short story writing in Creative Writing
- Discovering the power of language and the importance of thinking by creating Haiku's in English
- Micro bit programing in Information Technologies.
- Course overview and Mummy creations in Humanities and Social Science.
- Colour solvent experiment in Science
- Fun Heart Rate calculations in Mathematics
- A short choreography in Dance, and
- Team games such as tunnel ball in Physical Education.
A special mention to the Year 10 Student Hosts who guided the Year 6 students through the day and around the College Campus and the Teaching staff for making it an insightful day.
This was a fantastic day enjoyed by all Year 6s.
