Cricket Results – Term 1 2020
JFSC Cricket students wrapped up the 2019-2020 Cricket season under strange and unforeseen circumstances with the Kim Hughes shield undecided and the last few games for the Years 7-10s cancelled. Please see results for completed games below:
1st XI Cricket – Kim Hughes Shield
The 1st XI made it to the semi-finals of the 2019-2020 competition, with no word as yet as to if or when the finals for the series will take place.
JFSC v Scotch College
First of the two summer friendlies over the holidays. JFSC won the toss and elected to bat, making 3/284. Good batting performances by Elijah Ward-Armstrong (116), Jake Egan (96) and Gus McKeon (38). Scotch chased making 6/224 with wickets to Gus McKeon (2/15) and Kieran Abrams (2/19).
JFSC v Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS)
The second of the two summer friendlies over the holidays was a 2-day game at CCGS Playing Fields. JFSC won the toss and elected to bat, making 346 before electing to retire. Good batting performances by Jake Egan (184), Elijah Ward-Armstrong (58) and Gustav McKeon (54). CCGS begun their chase at the end of the first day, making 308 over the two days. One wicket a piece to Mathew Sadler, Alex Hardiman, Gus McKeon, Alex Baxter and Hunter Pugh.
JFSC v Kennedy Baptist College (KBC)
JFSC went into the third round of the Kim Hughes Shield with a home ground advantage. KBC batted first making 127 with wickets to Gus McKeon (3), Alex Hardiman (2) Elijah Ward-Armstrong (2), Kieran Abrams (2) and Harry Pannu (1). JFSC chased making 5/128 with good batting performances from Elijah Ward-Armstrong (34), Gus McKeon (28) and Jake Egan (24).
JFSC v Belridge Secondary College (BSC)
The final round of the Kim Hughes Shield saw JFSC travel to BSC. BSC batted first making 6/184 with wickets to Harry Pannu (2), and one each to Alex Hardiman and Jake Egan. JFSC chased making 10/101 with good batting performances by Jake Egan (33), Jayden Cappeau (17) and Gus McKeon (16).
Year 10 Cricket
JFSC v Belridge Secondary College (BSC)
After winning the toss BSC went into bat making 10/195. Wickets to Taj Jones (3/18), Jack Criddle (2/34) and Trent Goruppi-Hughes (2/7). JFSC chased making 2/138 with good batting performances by Oscar Wasley (54), Trent Goruppi-Hughes (50) and Cooper Hebbard (16).
Year 9 Cricket
JFSC v Belridge Secondary College (BSC)
In game one JFSC made 131 with good batting performances from Cooper Ilich-King (31), Ines McKeon (25) and Kade Barrett (20). BSC made 213 with wickets to Kade Barrett (1), Cooper Ilich-King (1) and Veronica Keen (1).
Game two saw JFSC Make 10/138 with good batting performances from Ishmeet Pannu (76) and Angus Bloxham (12). BSC chased making 5/163 with wickets to Ishmeet Pannu (1/19), Zach Howes (1/30) and Awais Parvez (1/17) and run outs to Will Menner and Ishmeet Pannu.
JFSC v Kent Street Senior High School (KSSHS)
JFSC won the toss and elected to bat making 8/151, with good batting performances by Arman Dhillon (38), Brandon Cappeau (31) and Angus Bloxham (36). KSSHS chased making 4/109 with wickets to Greg Hardiman (1/10, Kynan Wells (1/19 and Brandon Cappeau (2/5).
Year 8 Cricket
JFSC v Belridge Secondary College (BSC)
The first game for the Year 8s this year was a memorable one as it was the last double game held at the JFSC Oval before construction commenced (making it unfeasible for 2 games to be held on campus at the same time).
Game one saw JFSC win the toss and elect to bat second. BSC made 146 with a wicket hat trick to Vraj Patel, a wicket to Xavier Howse, a run out to Harrison Waghorn and some great bowling by Jai Henke. JFSC chased making 112 with good batting performances from Zach Howse (51 off 93), Oliver Brandes de Roos (14 off 41) and Blake Szewczulk (10 off 30).
Game two saw JFSC go into bat first making 145 with good batting performances from Delilah Smith (43) and Mohith Kesavan (22), whose partnership saw a score of 50. BSC chased making 288 with two wickets a piece to Kane Rawlins and Horshan Suresh each.
JFSC v Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS)
A combined Year 8/9 team won the toss against CCGS and elected to bat, making 96 off 10 overs. Good batting performances from Angus Bloxham (33) and Horshan Suresh (10 – retired). CCGS chased making 95 off 10 overs, with 4 wickets to Zach Howes and 1 wicket each to Katrick, Billy, Cooper and Angus. Though they were out for 96, the team never stopped believing they could win and they did!
Year 7 Cricket
JFSC v Belridge Secondary College (BSC)
The Year 7s kicked off their Cricket careers at JFSC with a game against BSC. After winning the toss BSC went into bat making 132 with wickets to Tyson and Sebb. Chase as they might JFSC made only 72 with good batting performances by Luke and Sebb.
JFSC v Christ Church Grammar School (CCGS)
A combined Year 7/8 team played an away game against CCGS. CCGS went into bat first making 53 with wickets to Noah Costigan (4), Liam Bason (4) and Vraj Patel (1) and a good bowling line from the JFSC Team. JFSC chased with good batting performances Tyson Treen (18) and Vraj Patel (5 off 6).
JFSC v Kent Street Senior High School (KSSHS)
For their last game of the Term the Year 7s played at KSSHS. KSSHS won the toss and chose to bat scoring 95. Wickets to Angus Scott and Liam Kay and a run out to Sebb Barrett and Satchit Patel. JFSC chased making 42 with top batting performances from Luke Costigan (10) and Ashton Kay (7).
