Bush Rangers Brilliant Excursion
The Bush Rangers Perth Zoo and Kings Park Activity Day
It was Friday the 27 of August 2021 that the Bush Rangers gathered outside the front of the College for a soon to be magnificent day out. With cloudy weather and light rainfall, the setting could not have been better for going out to the Perth Zoo and Kings Park.
Our time at the zoo was excellent. Staff and students alike had a wonderful time socialising and sightseeing. Students were fascinated by the array of diverse animals and were eager to learn all about them, and in particular the Year 7s and 8s were informed a lot about the native and foreign animals. Groups of cadets roamed the zoo, bustling and laughing as they took in the wondrous sights. The Australian bushwalk showcased the familiar cute and cuddly animals that we know so well. The African Savannah provided us with insight of the friendly and aggressive animals; some found getting up-close and personal with the Rhinos and Painted Dogs to be a surreal experience. The elegant Asian Rainforest contained an array of beautiful animals like the Sun Bear, Gibbons and Red Pandas. However, we mustn't move on without mentioning how charming the Primate enclosure, Reptile house and Nocturnal house were. By noon everyone was starving, so we unpacked our lunch and began to chow down, and soon after we would begin our journey to Kings Park.
The sun was radiant, and subsequently after our lovely time at the zoo there were smiles placed upon plenty-a people's faces. Thereafter by 1pm we had gradually started our forty-minute trek to Kings Park. As we were strolling on the pathway alongside the road at Narrows Bridge, cadets tried their very hardest to get the attention of passers-by… and somehow, they did?! Cars continually honked in amusement as the students waved at them cheerfully; and as a result, cadets roared in laughter and delight. Soon enough we had almost met our destination, however there was one last push that was required to be made in order to get up to the Botanic Gardens; we needed to traverse upwards using the Kokoda track. Cadets stumbled and staggered up the stairs and after twenty minutes' worth of hard work and perseverance, we all made it up to the Botanic Gardens! After that, we relaxed, rested and socialised until the bus arrived to take us back to school.
Overall, the general consensus amongst staff and cadets alike was that the events that occurred on the 27 of August were… absolutely awesome! We students learnt so much and I believe that on behalf of all the cadets, we'd love to thank the brilliant staff for allowing us to go on such a cool excursion. Let's hope next years can somehow be even better!
