Student success in extra training opportunities
During Term 4 students from Years 10 and 12 have been working with the Career and Vocational Education staff to apply for various opportunities to gain more educational experience and expand their future career ideas and prospects. Congratulations to the following students on the successful application for their chosen courses.
Community Services First Aid Taster
Three Year 10 students were successful in their application to take part in a micro-credential course run at South Metro TAFE Bentley.
For three days they worked with students from other schools on two units of competency from the Certificate II in Community Services.
The highlight of the training was achieving their First Aid certificate.
Congratulations to Jaylee Smith, Matilda Orkney and Sienna Plumb.
Army Work Experience
Congratulations to Emma Triantopoulos (Year 10) who represented JFSC in a recent work experience program held at the Irwin Barracks in Karrakatta. There were many applicants and Emma’s work with Army Cadets was recognised, winning her one of the twenty places available in the program.
The work experience program provides participants with a broad insight into the wide range of Army trades and associated career options with the Australian Army Reserve. Students take part in demonstrations, presentations, and practical activities hosted by a range of 13 Brigade units.
Activities included team building exercises, visits to Army simulators, an exposure to Army trades and demonstrations of vehicles and equipment specific to various units.
Students in the program also had the opportunity to speak with Army personnel from a range of areas to gain information about their roles, careers and experiences in Defence.
Well done Emma.
