STEM students combat Global Warming using Trees
Members of the Year 10 STEM class went to the Trillion Trees Nursery in Hazelmere in September.
The students were working on a project to offset carbon emissions and were looking at ways to grow trees to help remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Trillion Trees is a not for profit organisation that plats trees to combat salinity and soil erosion, offset carbon emissions and improve biodiversity. In the past 41 years they have planted in excess of 15 million trees across WA.
Students were shown how to grow seedlings from cuttings and from seeds. The students aim to build a small greenhouse that can be used to grow seedling for planting around the school and the local council.
We would like to thank Trillion Trees for their ongoing support.
