Year 10s Get into Resources
On the 23 of June, 17 students from Year 10 attended the “Get into Resources” expo for the day. This expo focused on job pathways leading into the mining and resource sector. The day was very fascinating and eye-opening, providing plenty of free stuff for us to take home.
We found that you don’t have to be a hard labourer or mining engineer to work in resources. The possible careers in this industry are limitless. Whether you want to be an electrician, personal trainer, lawyer, accountant, or physiotherapist, there is always a job for you in the resources industry.
During the day, we were split into groups, making our way around different workshops. We did workshops on land reclamation, team-building skills, site excavation and substance identification. It was an insightful experience, learning the fun and exciting tasks that someone in mining goes through.
