Japanese Exchange Students Visit JFSC During Languages Week (31 July to 6 August)
Our college has once again hosted Japanese students from our exchange schools, Sanda Shounkhan Senior High School in Hyogo (a prefecture in the Kansai region of the country's main island, Honshu Kobe) and Yamato Nishi High School (in Kanagawa, a coastal prefecture just south of Tokyo).
Year 10 and 11 students from Sanda Shounkhan SHS presented in small groups to our Year 10 Japanese studies students on various aspects of life in Japan. Our students were given an informative and entertaining insight into school programmes for teenagers in Japan, housing, traditional culture, favourite foods and current pop culture.
Students from Yamato Nishi High School immersed themselves in Aboriginal art culture and took inspiration to create some of their own art.
Japanese students from both schools were given a brief introduction to AFL and took their newfound knowledge to the school oval for a kick. We were impressed with how well they handled an egg-shaped ball!
In the spirit of Languages Week thank you to all of our students for making our international visitors feel so welcome. The feedback we have received from them has been overwhelmingly positive.
