House Athletics Carnival
This year's House Athletics Carnival could be best described as a day of competitive fun and team spirit. There truly was something for everyone on the day, with some students looking to break a record, while others were trying a new event for the first time.
Alongside the traditional athletics events of high jump, long jump, shot put, 200m, 400m and relays were friendly games of basketball and volleyball which were a highlight and kept the energy alive throughout the day.
The prior preparation of organisers and involvement of staff on the day contribute to the success of large scale events such as this, and this was evident on the day. Huge thanks to the HPE department for leading this year's carnival, along with all staff responsible for overseeing various events and aspects on the day. We would also like to thank all parents, family members and friends who came along for the day (some even interstate) to cheer on their loved ones.
Unfortunately despite the rain holding off for almost the entire event, the carnival was washed out in the remaining minutes. The final events will be held this week, with the ultimate winning faction being announced tomorrow.
This year saw the unveiling of the new Faction banners, with all four colours beautifully represented by local artist Kevin Bynder and proudly displayed throughout the day. While this year's carnival provided an appropriate backdrop for the new banners, the project was initially led by the Student Leadership group in 2021, who commenced the process of changing faction names, and it is important that their efforts are recognised. Additionally, we would like to thank the P & C for funding the artwork.
