Music Camp 2022
Once more, members of the John Forrest Secondary College Senior Music ensembles set out to Ern Halliday camping grounds on their annual Music Camp.
Over the 3 day camp, students learned lots about the art of music, under the guidance of the experienced music education staff. Ensemble rehearsals ran throughout the weekend, during which students learned and perfected various pieces of repertoire in the various ensembles they were a part of. These included the Senior Band, Swing Band, Chamber Choir, Senior Classical Guitar Ensemble, Certificate Ensemble and Combined Choir. They also learned about one of the most integral parts of being in the music industry... Schlepping (lifting heavy things), as 3 timpanis, 3 amps, a tuba, a marimba and a vibraphone needed to go down 3 sets of stairs just to be packed in the trailer, ready to leave.
There was also plenty of free time on the camp. During this time everyone enjoyed themselves, explored the campgrounds, jammed with their friends, and generally mingled. After dinner on Friday we had a movie night, where we watched the Incredibles and the last 30 minutes of Rango. We also had a Quiz Night on Saturday, where some of the Year 12's organised various games and a dress up competition for the remainder of the students (which, despite the last-minute planning, had many people participate!).
Big thanks to all the staff that helped organise and teach the event (The Podmore's, Mr Chadwick, Mr Burnside, Mr Byfield, Ms Juber, Ms Thyer, Ms Ruddock, Ms How, Miss Lyon, Mr Winfield, and Ms Woon), as well as the students that worked tirelessly during their practice and efforts to help run the camp.
