Science Week 2026

This year's Science Week theme was Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All. Throughout the week, students took part in a range of exciting activities, including science quizzes, classroom challenges, and engaging lunchtime demonstrations.

Chemistry was certainly popping in the lab as our Year 10 students performed the hydrogen "pop test" to identify hydrogen gas produced during reactions between metals and acids. This hands-on experiment was full of discovery, excitement, and plenty of memorable pops. Students had a blast while developing their practical science skills and understanding of chemical reactions.

At lunchtime on Tuesday, our Year 12 ChemStars wowed students and staff with a live chemistry demonstration outside the Café. Using dry ice and a variety of chemical reactions, they showcased fascinating scientific phenomena, including dramatic colour changes, gas production, and even objects being launched into the air.

The demonstration provided a fun and interactive opportunity for the school community to see chemistry in action and sparked curiosity about the science behind these impressive reactions.

While Science Week may officially be over, we know that science doesn't stop after one week. Every lesson, every question, every experiment, and every curious "why?" is an opportunity to explore and better understand the world around us.
