2026 HASS Week
Last week was a very busy HASS week at John Forrest Secondary College. Our quad was bursting with colour as students got creative with chalk art to celebrate. From powerful messages to eye-catching designs, they used their voices to share ideas about humanities and the world around them.
Year 8 students were tasked with putting their amateur historian skills to the test by designing their own heraldry in the style of those seen hundreds of years ago in Medieval Europe.
Students designed their heraldic shields by choosing their colours, patterns, and symbols, before completing a short reflection explaining their choices and what each part meant to them.
We welcomed Year 6 students from local primary schools for a full-day HASS masterclass focused on Ancient Egypt! Students explored the fascinating world of pharaohs, pyramids, and ancient civilisation, while engaging in a range of interactive learning activities, including working in teams to create their own mummy.
It was fantastic to see so much curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm throughout the day!
