Year 7 rise to the (Separation) Challenge

Recently the Year 7’s have been doing their Separation Challenge as part of the Chemistry topic.

They had to separate a mixture of sand, salt, plastic, and iron filings using several separation techniques they had learnt about in class. These techniques included – floatation, decanting, magnetic separation, crystallisation, and filtration.
